Event Overview:
The Autumn Printmaking Workshop Series is a hands-on event designed to immerse participants in the world of contemporary and traditional printmaking. Hosted by CHAPEAU DE ZINC ET BOTTE DE CUIVRE, this two-day workshop is open to artists, students, and enthusiasts of all levels who are eager to explore printmaking techniques, develop new skills, and connect with a vibrant creative community. The workshop emphasizes practical learning, experimentation, and artistic collaboration.
Program Schedule and Activities:
Day 1 – Introduction and Exploration:
- 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Welcome and Orientation
Participants will be welcomed by our team and introduced to the goals of the workshop, safety procedures, and the available printmaking equipment and materials. A brief history of printmaking and its relevance in contemporary art will also be discussed to provide context for the practical activities. - 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Basic Techniques
Attendees will learn fundamental techniques such as relief printing, etching, and monotype. Each participant will create a small sample project to practice these techniques, guided step by step by our instructors. - 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Lunch Break
- 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Creative Experimentation
Participants will apply the basic techniques learned earlier to create original works. Emphasis will be placed on experimentation with color, texture, and layering. Instructors will circulate to provide feedback, advice, and guidance, fostering an environment of creative exploration.
Day 2 – Advanced Techniques and Collaboration:
- 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM: Advanced Printmaking Methods
Attendees will explore more complex techniques, including multi-layer printing, screen printing, and experimental processes that combine traditional and modern approaches. Participants are encouraged to push the boundaries of conventional printmaking. - 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM: Lunch Break
- 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM: Collaborative Project
In this session, participants will work together on a collaborative printmaking project, combining individual styles and techniques into a cohesive group artwork. This exercise emphasizes teamwork, creative problem-solving, and the sharing of artistic ideas. - 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Presentation and Reflection
The workshop concludes with a presentation of participants’ works, group discussion, and reflection on the creative process. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences, challenges, and insights, promoting an exchange of knowledge and inspiration.
Additional Information:
All materials and tools are provided by the association, and participants are encouraged to bring any sketches or ideas they wish to develop during the workshop. No prior experience is required, and the event is entirely free of charge. This workshop is an excellent opportunity for artists, students, and enthusiasts to expand their skills, engage with the community, and deepen their understanding of printmaking.
